The Indigenous Prosperity Foundation welcomes Abdullah Snobar to its Board of Directors, marking a significant milestone in our journey toward fostering a more equitable and innovative Indigenous entrepreneurial ecosystem.
Abdullah Snobar brings a wealth of experience in entrepreneurship and innovation to the IPF Board. Serving as the Executive Director of DMZ and the CEO of DMZ Ventures, headquartered in Toronto, he has played a pivotal role in transforming DMZ into a dynamic hub for startup founders. DMZ offers vital support, empowering entrepreneurs to build, validate, and scale their ventures into thriving global enterprises. Under Abdullah's visionary leadership, DMZ has expanded its reach by establishing strategic partnerships and satellite locations across North America, Latin America, Africa, and Asia. Impressively, DMZ has assisted over 820 startups in raising a remarkable $2.58 billion in capital.
"I am thrilled to join the Board of the Indigenous Prosperity Foundation," said Abdullah. "I've witnessed firsthand the challenges underserved founders face when launching and growing businesses, but I've also seen the transformative impact of entrepreneurship on families and communities. Underserved entrepreneurs possess immense talent and potential; what they lack is access to opportunities like mentorship, resources, and capital."
The Indigenous Prosperity Foundation (IPF), a charitable organization established by the National Aboriginal Capital Corporations Association with the support of Indigenous Financial Institutions across Canada, is dedicated to creating a thriving and inclusive Indigenous economy rooted in Indigenous values. Its mission is to ensure that every Indigenous individual in Canada has access to the support and resources necessary to fulfill their potential. This includes providing training, mentorship, digital access and funding for Indigenous women, youth, and underserved entrepreneurs.
Abdullah's appointment is driven by his unwavering commitment to addressing underrepresentation in entrepreneurship. His previous roles as a Board Director for the Business Development Bank of Canada and the Ontario Trillium Foundation underscore his strategic acumen and dedication to driving positive change.
"I am honoured to contribute to empowering Indigenous entrepreneurs across Canada and to help create a more diverse and robust entrepreneurial ecosystem," said Abdullah. "This is a pivotal moment to bridge critical gaps in Canada's entrepreneurship landscape, and it's up to the broader ecosystem to collaborate and provide Indigenous entrepreneurs with the tools and resources they need to thrive."
